Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – Part-Time Afternoons
Location: Glastonbury and surrounding areas
Start Date: September 2026
Hours: Monday to Friday, 12:15pm – 3:15pm
Contract: Initially until October half term, with the potential to be extended
Pay: Competitive rates of pay, dependent on experience

Teaching Personnel is working in partnership with a friendly and supportive primary school in the Glastonbury area to recruit an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) for a part-time afternoon position.
This role is perfect for an enthusiastic HLTA or experienced teaching assistant looking for a rewarding opportunity to make a positive impact during the school day. Initially offered for the first half term of the academic year, there is every possibility that the position will continue beyond October for the right candidate.
The Role
Working each afternoon from 12:15pm to 3:15pm, you will:
- Deliver high-quality support across Key Stage 2 classrooms.
- Lead small group interventions to support pupils' academic progress.
- Provide classroom cover where required.
- Support pupils with a range of learning needs, ensuring they remain engaged and achieve their potential.
- Work closely with teaching staff to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Build strong relationships with pupils, staff and parents.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
- Holds HLTA status or has significant experience working within a primary school setting.
- Has previous experience supporting pupils in Key Stage 2.
- Is confident leading learning and working independently when required.
- Has excellent communication and behaviour management skills.
- Is reliable, proactive and passionate about supporting children's learning.
- Can commit to afternoon sessions throughout the initial contract.

- An Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
- Two professional references covering your recent employment history.
- Right to Work checks.
- Verification of qualifications and employment history.
- A face-to-face or virtual registration interview with your dedicated consultant.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
