Job description

A school in Stockport is looking for an experienced History teacher to join the teaching staff on a temporary basis. The requirements for this position are:

  • Teacher must hold QTS (or an equivalent qualification)
  • Must be educated to degree level (in History or a related subject)
  • Must have experience in the delivery of high quality History lessons across KS3 and KS4. Experience in KS5 delivery is also welcomed.

It is essential that that the required applicant will be able to:

  • Effectively deliver school curriculum, ensuring that tasks set are engaging, as well as homework tasks that are relevant to work being completed in lesson time.
  • Provide  regular feedback and updates linked to overall student progress and class attainment.
  • Monitor day to day factors related attendance, in-class assessment and examination preparation.
  • Differentiate learning to cater for the needs of those with SEN, as well as those requiring additional support within an EAL capacity.
  • Set realistic individual targets for students within the subject, as well as being able to work with students productively on both a group and individual level.
  • Work with other members of staff to identify pupils requiring additional guidance, as well as working with support staff to offer interventions when necessary.

Pay - GBP24,373 - GBP40,490 per year, based on previous experience. 

The role will begin after the Easter beak, and will run through until the end of the academic year.

  • Receive regular training, related to key school issues e.g safeguarding
  • Get the opportunity to implement your own unique approach on the learning process, working with children across a broad range of ages and abilities.

The school’s location in Stockport is a short distance away from Manchester city centre. The M60 motorway is very close by, and there are multiple public transport links also within close proximity of the school itself.
