History Teacher – Secondary School

Location: Yeovil
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time, Long-term
Salary: MPS/UPS, dependent on experience

Teaching Personnel is working with a welcoming and supportive mainstream secondary school in Yeovil that is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed History Teacher from September 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate History Teacher who enjoys inspiring students and helping them develop a strong understanding of the past. The successful candidate will join a collaborative department and play an important role in delivering engaging, challenging and inclusive lessons across the secondary curriculum.

The Role

As a History Teacher, you will be responsible for:

  • Planning and delivering engaging History lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.

  • Creating a positive and inclusive classroom environment.

  • Differentiating lessons to meet the needs of students with varying abilities.

  • Assessing student progress and providing effective feedback.

  • Encouraging students to develop strong analytical, research and critical-thinking skills.

  • Maintaining high standards of behaviour and academic achievement.

  • Working collaboratively with colleagues within the History and wider Humanities department.

  • Contributing to the wider life of the school where appropriate.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a History Teacher who:

  • Holds QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.

  • Has experience teaching History within a secondary school setting.

  • Has strong subject knowledge and a genuine passion for History.

  • Demonstrates excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.

  • Can engage, motivate and challenge students of different abilities.

  • Is organised, reliable and adaptable.

  • Has a positive and professional approach to working with students and colleagues.

  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
