About the Role

Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting for a knowledgeable and engaging History Teacher to work on an agency basis across a range of partner secondary schools in Northumberland. This role offers flexible working opportunities, allowing you to gain experience in a variety of school settings while bringing history to life for students.

You will deliver engaging History lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, and potentially Key Stage 5, depending on the placement. Assignments may range from day-to-day cover to longer-term roles.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality History lessons across a range of school settings
  • Inspire students through engaging teaching of historical events, themes, and interpretations
  • Adapt quickly to new classrooms and maintain continuity of learning
  • Prepare and support students for GCSE and/or A-Level History examinations where required
  • Encourage critical thinking, analysis, and discussion
  • Assess, monitor, and report on student progress (where applicable to placement)
  • Uphold school policies and contribute positively to each school community

 

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent (preferred but not essential for strong candidates with relevant experience)
  • Degree or background in History or a related field
  • Experience teaching History in a secondary school setting or relevant experience
  • Strong classroom management and organisational skills
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and confidence working in different school environments
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
