Job description

History Graduate / Cover Supervisor – Bedford

Start ASAP | Full-Time | £100–£130 per day | No Planning or Marking!

Are you a History graduate with a passion for the past?
Ever thought about becoming a teacher but want to gain classroom experience first?

If so, this could be the perfect role for you!

Teaching Personnel are looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable History Graduate / Cover Supervisor to join a school in the Bedford area on a full-time basis.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who has a strong understanding of History and the UK curriculum and wants to take their first step into teaching.

You won't be expected to plan lessons or mark students' work. Instead, you'll use your existing History knowledge to deliver and support pre-planned lessons, engage students and help them develop their understanding of the subject.

The Role

As a History Cover Supervisor, you will:

  • Cover History lessons across KS3, KS4 and KS5.
  • Deliver pre-planned lessons and support students with their learning.
  • Use your History knowledge to explain topics, answer questions and encourage discussion.
  • Help students develop their understanding of the UK History curriculum.
  • Build positive relationships with students and encourage engagement.
  • Manage classroom behaviour and maintain a positive learning environment.
  • Support students of different abilities and learning needs.
  • Work alongside teaching staff and follow school policies.
  • Provide feedback to teachers on student engagement and lesson progress.

No lesson planning. No marking. No taking work home.
Just the opportunity to use your subject knowledge to make a real difference in the classroom.

What We're Looking For

You could be a great fit if you:

  • Have a degree in History or a closely related subject.
  • Have a strong knowledge of History and the UK secondary curriculum.
  • Are passionate about helping young people learn.
  • Are considering a career in teaching and want valuable classroom experience.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Are confident speaking in front of a classroom.
  • Can build positive relationships and manage behaviour effectively.
  • Are reliable, enthusiastic and adaptable.
  • Are available Monday–Friday on a full-time basis.

You don't need to be a qualified teacher. In fact, this role could be the ideal stepping stone if you're considering teacher training in the future.

Why Teaching Personnel?

As a candidate with Teaching Personnel, you'll have access to:

  • £100–£130 per day, depending on experience.
  • Full-time opportunities with schools across Bedford.
  • A dedicated consultant who will support you throughout your placement.
  • Access to a wide range of education opportunities.
  • Valuable classroom experience to strengthen your future teaching career.
  • Professional development and training opportunities.
  • Support with safeguarding and compliance.
  • Potential opportunities to progress into teacher training and longer-term education roles.

Ready to Turn Your History Degree Into a Career?

Why keep your passion for History confined to books and university essays?

What if your knowledge could inspire the next generation?
