HLTA / Teaching Assistant Level 3 (PL25 / TR1)
Primary Schools | Short-Term and Full‑Time | Long‑Term Potential
Term‑Time Only | Regular PPA Cover
Daily Rate: £14.25 - £17.50 Per hour
Teaching Personnel are working with a number of welcoming primary schools across the PL25 and TR1 areas who are seeking confident and experienced HLTAs / Level 3 Teaching Assistants to support teaching and learning across the school. This role includes regular PPA cover and offers the potential for a full‑time, long‑term placement.

Role Overview
The HLTA / TA Level 3 will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning across the school, including delivering planned PPA cover. This position requires confidence leading whole‑class learning, following pre‑prepared lesson plans, and maintaining strong behaviour and engagement throughout lessons.
You will remain employed by the agency while working under the day‑to‑day direction of the school’s senior leadership team, in line with school policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & PPA Cover
- Deliver pre‑planned lessons during teacher PPA time, ensuring continuity of learning
- Lead whole‑class sessions confidently across assigned year groups
- Adapt lesson delivery to meet pupil needs while following school frameworks
- Provide clear verbal and written feedback to teaching staff following lessons
Classroom Support
- Support teachers with learning activities, interventions and catch‑up sessions
- Work with individuals and small groups to reinforce learning objectives
- Prepare and use classroom resources provided by the school
Behaviour & Engagement
- Manage behaviour in line with the school’s behaviour policy
- Maintain a calm, safe and purposeful learning environment
- Promote positive attitudes, inclusion and mutual respect
Pastoral & SEND Support
- Support pupils’ emotional and social development
- Assist with SEND, EAL or SEMH needs where required
- Follow safeguarding procedures and report concerns appropriately
Professional Responsibilities
- Represent the agency and school professionally at all times
- Adhere to school policies, safeguarding procedures and staff codes of conduct
- Complete agency timesheets accurately and on time
- Communicate effectively with school staff and agency consultants
Essential Requirements
- HLTA status or TA Level 3 qualification
- Proven experience working in a UK primary school
- Experience covering classes for PPA
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
- Good understanding of the primary curriculum
- Flexible, adaptable and confident in school settings
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply through the agency)
- Right to work in the UK
Desirable
- Experience across multiple year groups
- SEND experience
- First Aid training
- Experience in long‑term supply placements

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
