Job Advert: Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – Secondary School, Runcorn

Contract: Full-Time, Temp to Perm

A welcoming secondary school in Runcorn is seeking a committed and passionate Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their team. This full-time role offers an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to transition from a temporary position into a permanent role.
As the HLTA, you will play a key part in supporting students with a wide range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). You’ll work alongside teaching staff to deliver high‑quality support, targeted interventions, and personalised guidance to help students progress both academically and personally.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide support to students with SEND across Key Stages 3 and 4.
- Deliver tailored small‑group and 1:1 interventions.
- Work collaboratively with teachers to plan, prepare, and deliver activities or lessons.
- Offer pastoral support, encouragement, and guidance to boost student engagement.
- Adapt approaches to meet the diverse needs of individual learners.
- Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment.
Requirements & Personal Qualities
- HLTA qualification or significant experience in a similar role.
- Strong experience supporting students with SEND within a school environment.
- Ability to build trusting, positive relationships with young people.
- Confident in leading small groups and delivering structured interventions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with staff, students, and families.
- A calm, patient, and supportive approach to managing challenges.
- Motivational and inspiring attitude, encouraging students to reach their full potential.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to work proactively.
- A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
