Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a welcoming primary school in Cardiff from September.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant or qualified HLTA who is ready to take the next step in their career. The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting teaching and learning across the school, delivering interventions, leading lessons when required, and working closely with teaching staff to ensure every pupil reaches their full potential.
About the Role
As a HLTA, no two days will be the same. You will work across different year groups, supporting teachers while also taking responsibility for leading learning activities and covering classes during PPA time or staff absence.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering planned lessons in the absence of the class teacher
- Supporting teaching and learning across Foundation Phase, KS1 and KS2
- Leading small group and intervention sessions in literacy and numeracy
- Working with pupils who require additional learning support
- Supporting teachers with planning, preparation and assessment
- Monitoring pupil progress and providing feedback to teaching staff
- Helping to create a positive, inclusive and engaging learning environment
The Ideal Candidate
The school is looking for someone who:
- Holds HLTA status or has significant classroom experience in a similar role
- Has a good understanding of the Curriculum for Wales
- Is confident leading whole-class learning
- Can adapt to different year groups and learning needs
- Builds positive relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues
- Has strong behaviour management and communication skills

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
