Secondary- Cover Supervisor

 

  • Location: Abertillery
  • Salary: From £93 per day
  • Contract type: Full time

 

Are you looking to gain hands-on experience in a secondary school setting?
This is a fantastic opportunity to work as a Cover Supervisor within a supportive, mainstream comprehensive school in Abertillery.

The role is ideal for graduates, aspiring teachers, or individuals with experience working with young people who are keen to develop classroom confidence and behaviour management skills. You’ll play a key role in maintaining continuity of learning by supervising classes in the absence of the usual classroom teacher.

 

The role involves:

  • Supervising pre-planned lessons across a range of subjects.
  • Managing classroom behaviour in line with the school’s policies.
  • Ensuring students remain on task and engaged with their work.
  • Providing guidance and support to pupils where appropriate.
  • Working with pupils aged 11–16 in a mainstream secondary environment.
  • Liaising with teaching staff and the wider school team as required.

What you’ll need:

  • Experience working with children or young people (education, youth work, coaching or similar).
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills.
  • Confidence, resilience and a calm approach.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply, support provided).
  • Registration with the EWC (guidance available).
  • No formal teaching qualification required.
