MPS/UPS (up to UPS3) + TLR Available

Teaching Personnel are delighted to be working in partnership with one of Luton's most successful and highly regarded secondary schools, who are seeking an exceptional Head of Music to join their team from September 2026.

This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and passionate Music Teacher to lead a thriving department and play a key role in embedding music at the heart of school life. The position is available on either a long-term or temp-to-permanent basis and would suit an experienced Music Teacher looking to progress into leadership or an established middle leader seeking a fresh challenge.

About the Role

As Head of Music, you will be responsible for leading the Music department and delivering engaging, high-quality lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4. You will inspire students to develop their musical talents while promoting participation in concerts, performances, enrichment activities and the wider cultural life of the school.

Working closely with colleagues and senior leaders, you will help shape the vision for Music within the curriculum and ensure all students have the opportunity to thrive and achieve their full potential.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a teacher who:

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Has a degree in Music and a recognised teaching qualification (PGCE or equivalent).
  • Has a minimum of two years' experience teaching Music within UK secondary schools.
  • Has experience teaching Music across KS3 and KS4.
  • Demonstrates strong classroom management and excellent subject knowledge.
  • Has a genuine passion for Music and inspiring young people.
  • Possesses leadership experience or the ambition and capability to step into a middle leadership role.
  • Can contribute to extracurricular activities, school productions, concerts and performances.

Requirements

  • Available to start in September 2026.
  • Able to work full-time, Monday to Friday.
  • Able to provide references covering recent teaching experience in UK schools.
  • Holds an Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or is willing to apply for one.
