Permanent Role | September 2026 Start | Mainstream Secondary School

Are you an ambitious and inspiring English Teacher ready to take the next step in your career?

Teaching Personnel are proud to be supporting a welcoming and forward-thinking mainstream secondary school in Bournemouth in the appointment of a Head of English to join their leadership team from September 2026 on a permanent basis.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced English Teacher or current Key Stage Lead who is looking to progress into middle leadership within a supportive and well-resourced environment.

The Role

The successful candidate will lead a dedicated English department with a strong focus on raising attainment, curriculum development, and fostering a love of literature and language across Key Stages 3 and 4. There may also be opportunities to contribute to Key Stage 5 depending on experience.

You will:

  • Lead and inspire a committed English department
  • Drive high standards of teaching and learning
  • Support curriculum planning and departmental development
  • Monitor student progress and implement effective intervention strategies
  • Mentor and support teaching staff within the department
  • Play a key role in whole-school improvement initiatives

The Ideal Candidate

The school is seeking a passionate and motivated educator who:

  • Holds QTS and a relevant English qualification
  • Has proven experience teaching English within a secondary setting
  • Demonstrates strong classroom management and leadership potential
  • Has a track record of achieving strong student outcomes
  • Is ready to take the next step into leadership or is an existing middle leader seeking a new challenge
  • Brings enthusiasm, creativity, and a collaborative approach
