Are you a recent graduate considering a career in teaching?
Our Graduate Teaching Internship is a paid, school‑based opportunity designed for graduates who want to gain real classroom experience before committing to teacher training.
This role places you in secondary schools across Cheshire, supporting pupils and teachers while building the skills, confidence and experience required to progress into PGCE or school‑based teacher training.
This internship is ideal for graduates seeking education jobs, graduate teaching roles, or a clear pathway into teaching without making an immediate training commitment.
The Role – Graduate Teaching Internship
As a Graduate Teaching Intern, you will:
- Work in secondary schools supporting teaching and learning
- Assist in lessons or supervise classes during short‑term teacher absence
- Manage classroom behaviour using pre‑set work provided by teachers
- Support pupils with tasks and encourage engagement
- Observe experienced teachers and learn classroom best practice
- Gain hands‑on education experience in preparation for teacher training
No lesson planning or marking is required at entry level.
What We’re Looking For
This role is suitable for:
- Recent graduates (any subject specialism considered)
- Graduates interested in teaching, education, SEN, youth work or psychology
- Confident individuals with strong communication skills
- Candidates considering a future PGCE, School Direct or ICT route
Previous classroom experience is not required.

Many graduates continue into PGCE or school‑based teacher training following successful completion of the internship.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
