Are you a recent graduate with a passion for education? Looking to gain meaningful classroom experience before progressing into teaching or a related career? Teaching Personnel is seeking enthusiastic and driven Graduate Teaching Assistants to support secondary schools across Gateshead.

This role offers a fantastic opportunity to build confidence in the classroom, develop your skillset, and make a genuine difference in students’ academic journeys—all within supportive and welcoming school environments.

About the Role:

  • Deliver targeted 1:1 and small group interventions to support student progress
  • Assist teachers in delivering engaging and effective lessons
  • Help create a positive, inclusive, and motivating learning environment
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff to support students with varying needs
  • Apply and strengthen your subject knowledge in a real classroom setting
  • Support classroom management and contribute to a focused learning atmosphere

What We’re Looking For:

  • A relevant degree and strong subject knowledge
  • A genuine interest in working with young people and pursuing a career in education
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Confidence, adaptability, and a proactive approach
  • The ability to maintain high expectations for behaviour and learning
  • Previous school or youth-based experience (desirable but not essential)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
