Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive primary SEN school in Bury. This is an excellent opportunity for graduates considering careers in teaching, educational psychology, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, or other child-centred professions.
About the Role
As a Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff to provide tailored support for pupils with a range of additional learning needs. You will help create a positive and structured learning environment, enabling pupils to develop academically, socially, and emotionally.
The role will involve supporting pupils on both a one-to-one basis and within small groups, helping them access learning, build confidence, and achieve their individual targets.

- Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH)
- Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)

Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with SEN
- Assist teachers in delivering engaging and differentiated lessons
- Support the implementation of Individual Learning Plans (ILPs)
- Encourage pupil engagement, independence, and confidence
- Promote positive behaviour and support emotional regulation
- Assist with personal care needs where required
- Support pupils' social, emotional, and communication development
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff
- Monitor progress and provide feedback on pupil development
- Maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
Requirements
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN
- Resilient, patient, and proactive attitude
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to respond positively to challenging behaviour
- Comfortable supporting personal care requirements
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing
- Genuine passion for SEN education
Desirable Experience
- Previous experience within a specialist or SEN setting
- Knowledge of ASD, SEMH, SLCN, or complex needs
- Team Teach training or willingness to undertake training
- Interest in pursuing a long-term career in education or child development
