Graduate Teaching Assistant – Newcastle
Location:Durham (easy public transport access)
Start Date: May 2026 or sooner
Job Type: Full-time (Temporary to Permanent opportunities)
Salary: £90–£110 per day
Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting Graduate Teaching Assistants in Newcastle to support schools and help students succeed in the classroom. This role is ideal for graduates considering a future career in teaching, education, psychology, youth work, or child development.
As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will gain valuable hands-on classroom experience while supporting teachers and helping students develop academically and socially.
Key Responsibilities
- Support teachers during lessons and classroom activities
- Provide 1:1 support and small group support for students
- Assist with classroom management and behaviour support
- Help create a positive and inclusive learning environment
- Encourage student engagement, confidence, and participation
- Support students who may need additional help with learning
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in any subject
- Interest in working with children, students, or young people
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A proactive and positive approach to supporting learning
- Enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to apply)
Previous experience such as tutoring, mentoring, coaching, youth work, or volunteering with young people is beneficial but not required.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
