Teaching Personnel are recruiting graduates to join our Future Teachers Programme, designed to support aspiring teachers as they progress from university into the education sector. This programme is ideal for graduates who want valuable school-based experience prior to enrolling on a PGCE or other teacher training routes.

The Role: Cover Supervisor

Successful candidates will be placed in secondary schools across the Basingstoke area as a Cover Supervisor.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Covering classes during short-term teacher absences
• Supervising students while they complete pre-set work provided by the class teacher
• Managing classroom behaviour and maintaining a positive learning environment
• Ensuring students remain engaged and on task throughout the lesson

No lesson planning, marking or active teaching required
Gain first-hand classroom experience
Excellent preparation for future teacher training

During Your Placement You Will:

• Keep a reflective journal of your day-to-day experiences
• Observe lessons in your subject specialism and a variety of other subjects
• Develop your understanding of teaching styles, differentiation and behaviour management
• Learn how schools support pupils pastorally and deliver assemblies and registration
• Understand school policies and how they are implemented
• Learn the syllabus in your subject area and apply your degree knowledge in practice
• Support pupils with coursework and examination preparation
