Job description

Teaching Personnel are recruiting graduates to work as Cover Supervisors in secondary schools across Oldham.

This is a paid, full‑time, term‑time role suited to graduates who are considering a career in teaching and want classroom experience before committing to a PGCE or school‑based training route. It is also suitable for graduates seeking practical experience working with young people in a professional school environment.

You will work in one or more Oldham secondary schools, supervising classes during short‑term teacher absence. Lessons are pre‑planned, and the role focuses on classroom supervision and behaviour management rather than lesson delivery.

The role will involve:

  • Supervising classes across KS3 and KS4 during teacher absence
  • Ensuring pupils remain on task with pre‑set work
  • Managing classroom behaviour in line with school policies
  • Building professional relationships with staff and pupils
  • Gaining first‑hand experience of life in a secondary school

There is no requirement for lesson planning or marking.

This role is suited to graduates who:

  • Hold a degree in any subject
  • Are confident, organised and professional
  • Are interested in teaching or education as a career
  • Can manage a classroom confidently and calmly

Experience working with young people is helpful but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
