Teacher of Geography (Full-Time) – Maternity Cover

Location: Accrington, Lancashire
Start Date: Monday 13th April 2026
Contract: Full-time, Maternity Cover

About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated, and inspiring Teacher of Geography to join our successful and forward-thinking Humanities Department in a mainstream secondary school in Accrington. This is a full-time maternity cover position starting Monday 13th April 2026.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about their subject, committed to high standards of teaching and learning, and able to create engaging, challenging lessons that support students of all abilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high-quality Geography lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4
  • Use a range of teaching strategies to inspire, motivate, and support students
  • Assess student progress effectively and provide meaningful feedback
  • Contribute to curriculum development within the Humanities team
  • Maintain a positive classroom environment with strong behaviour management
  • Participate in wider school life, meetings, and professional development

Candidate Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Strong subject knowledge in Geography
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
