General Teaching Assistant – Central Bristol 

Hours: Full time (5 days per week)
Location: Central Bristol

We are working with a fantastic primary school in Central Bristol that is seeking a committed General Teaching Assistant to join their team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children’s learning and who is looking to develop a career in education. The school has a supportive leadership team, a friendly staff community and offers great opportunities for professional development.

The Role:
- Supporting the class teacher across the school day in KS1 and/or KS2
- Working with pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
- Supporting learning in core subjects such as phonics, reading, writing and maths
- Helping children who find learning challenging to access the curriculum
- Supporting children with special educational needs including autism (ASD), ADHD, dyslexia and speech and language needs
- Implementing strategies from individual education plans (IEPs) and supporting pupils with EHCPs
- Using positive behaviour management strategies to promote a calm, purposeful learning environment
- Encouraging pupils’ confidence, independence and social skills
- Helping to prepare resources and support classroom organisation
- Assisting with observations and recording of pupil progress
- Working collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO and wider staff team
- Contributing to the wider life of the school where required

- Experience working with children in any setting such as schools, nurseries, youth work, tutoring or volunteering
- A patient, enthusiastic and nurturing approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Resilience, reliability and a positive attitude
- A genuine interest in supporting children’s learning, well-being and development
- Graduates and candidates considering a future in teaching are very welcome to apply
