Job description

GCSE Tutor – Wigan

Location: Wigan
Hours: Part-time, weekdays during school hours
Pay: Competitive hourly rate (dependent on experience)

We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic GCSE Tutor to provide high-quality 1:1 tuition for students in the Wigan area.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced tutor, teacher, or education professional who is passionate about helping students build confidence, improve their academic performance, and achieve their GCSE goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and personalised 1:1 GCSE tuition.
  • Plan lessons tailored to the student's individual learning needs and abilities.
  • Support students in preparing for GCSE examinations and coursework where appropriate.
  • Adapt teaching methods to suit different learning styles and individual needs.
  • Monitor progress and provide regular feedback.
  • Create a positive, supportive, and motivating learning environment.

Requirements

  • Experience teaching or tutoring GCSE-level subjects.
  • Experience delivering 1:1 tuition or teaching in a school or alternative education setting.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is desirable but not essential for candidates with relevant tutoring experience.
  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Ability to provide professional references.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
