Future Teachers Programme – September Start
Location: Oxford
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time | 1-year paid programme with progression opportunities
Start Your Teaching Journey – Make a Real Difference
Are you a graduate ready to challenge yourself, build a meaningful career, and make a lasting impact?
Our Future Teachers Programme offers a unique opportunity to step into the classroom, gain hands-on experience, and discover whether teaching is the right path for you—before committing to formal training.
This isn’t just work experience. It’s your first step towards becoming an exceptional teacher.
About the Programme
The Future Teachers Programme is a one-year, paid school-experience initiative designed for graduates considering teaching in England and Wales. You’ll work as a cover supervisor, gaining real classroom experience while receiving expert mentoring and high-quality CPD training—bridging the gap between university and Initial Teacher Training (ITT) and preparing you for Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
You’ll be placed in SEN (Special Educational Needs) and SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) schools across Oxford, supporting students who need consistency, encouragement, and someone who believes in them.
This is a role where no two days are the same, and where your impact truly matters.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead lessons as a cover supervisor using pre-planned materials
- Support students with additional needs to engage, progress, and succeed
- Build strong, positive relationships that help students feel safe and supported
- Develop behaviour management and classroom leadership skills
- Work closely with experienced staff and specialist educators
- Take part in ongoing training and professional development
Why Join Us?
- Real classroom experience from day one
- Dedicated mentoring from experienced teachers
- Structured CPD to accelerate your development
- Opportunities to observe excellent teaching in action
- A clear pathway into teacher training and QTS
- The chance to make a genuine difference in young people’s lives
Who We’re Looking For
- Graduates (any subject) with a strong interest in teaching
- Resilient, empathetic individuals who thrive on challenge
- Strong communicators who can build trust and rapport
- People who are passionate about inclusion and supporting vulnerable learners
- Experience with young people or SEN/SEMH is desirable but not essential
Is This You?
- You’re considering a career in teaching but want real experience first
- You want a role that is meaningful, challenging, and rewarding
- You’re motivated to support students who need it most
- You’re ready to step outside your comfort zone and grow
