Experienced SEN Teaching Assistant – Specialist Setting (Permanent)

Location: Tower Hamlets & Newham, East London
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Start Date: ASAP / September 2026
Salary: Competitive (dependent on experience)

Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant looking for a long-term role in a specialist setting?

We are working with a number of special schools, ARPs (Additionally Resourced Provisions), and SEN units across Tower Hamlets and Newham who are looking to appoint skilled and confident SEN Teaching Assistants on a permanent basis.

These roles involve supporting pupils with a range of complex needs, including ASD, SEMH, and learning difficulties, within structured, specialist environments.

Essential Requirements (Non-Negotiable):

  • Proven experience working in a specialist SEN setting or ARP
  • Strong understanding of supporting pupils with additional needs and behaviour challenges
  • Valid DBS on the Update Service OR willingness to apply for one
  • Ability to work confidently as part of a multidisciplinary team

Please note:
This is not an entry-level role.
Candidates without relevant specialist SEN or ARP experience will not be considered.

⚠️ Important – Personal Care:

This role will involve personal care, including:

  • Toileting support
  • Feeding assistance
  • Supporting mobility where required

You must be fully comfortable and experienced in providing personal care as part of your role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting students on a 1:1 and small group basis
  • Working towards EHCP targets and structured interventions
  • Managing behaviour in line with school policies
  • Supporting emotional regulation and communication needs
  • Collaborating with teachers, SENCOs, and therapists

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
