Job Title: Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Teaching Assistant
Reports to: Class Teacher / Early Years Coordinator / Headteacher
Job Purpose:
To assist in the educational and social development of children in the EYFS, working under the direction of the class teacher and senior staff to create a safe, stimulating, and supportive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:

Classroom Support:
- Assist in planning and implementing a curriculum that supports the Early Years Foundation Stage framework.
- Support children in small groups or on a one-to-one basis as needed.
- Help set up and organize learning activities and environments, ensuring a variety of materials and resources are available.
- Observe and assess children's progress, keeping accurate records of their development.
- Provide feedback to the class teacher on children’s progress and any areas of concern.

Child Development:
- Foster a nurturing and stimulating environment that supports the physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development of each child.
- Encourage children to develop independence, self-confidence, and a love of learning.
- Support the development of language, literacy, numeracy, and other foundational skills through play and structured activities.
- Assist with personal care routines, including toileting, dressing, and feeding, ensuring children’s health and safety.

Behavior Management:
- Promote positive behavior and implement the school’s behavior management policies.
- Use positive reinforcement and appropriate strategies to manage challenging behavior.
- Encourage good manners, respect, and cooperation among children.

Parental Engagement:
- Build positive relationships with parents and carers, providing regular updates on their child’s progress and well-being.
- Participate in parent meetings, open days, and other school events as required.

Administrative Duties:
- Prepare and maintain learning resources and equipment.
- Assist with record-keeping and administrative tasks, such as maintaining attendance registers and updating individual learning plans (ILPs).
- Contribute to the creation and maintenance of displays and visual aids in the classroom.

Professional Development:
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities to stay informed about best practices in early childhood education.
- Reflect on personal practice and set goals for continuous improvement.

Health and Safety:
- Ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times, adhering to school policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular risk assessments of the learning environment.
- Report any concerns regarding child protection or welfare to the designated safeguarding lead.
Qualifications and Skills:

Essential:
- Relevant qualifications in early childhood education (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Certificate in Early Years Education and Care).
- Experience working with young children in an educational setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

Desirable:
- Pediatric First Aid certification.
- Experience with children with special educational needs (SEN).
- Knowledge of the EYFS framework and current best practices in early years education.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
