Role: Associate Lecturer – ESOL
Location: Across Northamptonshire sites
Salary: £25.00 per hour
Hours: Approximately 15 hours per week
Contract Type: Sessional (Hourly Paid)

About the Role
Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a well-established Further Education provider to recruit an Associate Lecturer in ESOL to join their Adult and Community Learning team.
This is a flexible, sessional opportunity ideal for an experienced ESOL practitioner who is passionate about supporting both young people and adult learners to develop essential language and life skills.
Key responsibilities include:
- Teaching & Learner Development: Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging ESOL lessons for 16–18 and adult learners, promoting real-world communication skills and learner progression.
- Assessment & Progress Tracking: Conduct initial assessments, monitor learner progress, maintain accurate records, and provide clear, constructive feedback.
- Curriculum Planning: Develop schemes of work and differentiated lesson plans, create learning resources (including digital/ILT materials), and contribute to curriculum development and quality improvement.
- Classroom Practice: Manage a safe and inclusive learning environment, set clear expectations, and adapt teaching strategies to meet diverse learner needs.
- Professional Responsibilities: Engage in CPD, attend meetings and events, support enrolment and marketing activities, and uphold safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion, and health & safety standards.
About You
We are looking for a motivated and adaptable ESOL specialist who can deliver high-quality teaching across a range of learner groups.
Essential requirements:
- A degree (or equivalent) in ESOL, English, or a related subject
- CELTA or Trinity ESOL teaching qualification
- GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent)
- Willingness to work towards a full teaching qualification (DET/PGCE)
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
Experience & Skills:
- Proven experience teaching ESOL across multiple levels and age groups, including adult learners
- Experience delivering Functional Skills English
- Strong understanding of inclusive teaching practices and equality and diversity
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
Personal qualities:
- Enthusiastic, self-motivated, and learner-focused
- Committed to achieving positive learner outcomes
- Flexible and adaptable in approach
Additional requirements:
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
- Willingness to travel across multiple sites and deliver evening classes where required
About the Role Type
This is a sessional (associate) position, meaning work is offered on a flexible, assignment basis. Associates support delivery as needed and work alongside permanent staff, with opportunities to take on regular teaching hours where available.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
