Opportunities for English Graduates seeking work in Secondary Schools - Academic Year 2023/2024

Why are our client schools looking to recruit English Graduates?

Several of our client secondary schools in Wigan are actively seeking bright and enthusiastic English graduates to join their teams in supportive roles within the English department and other areas of the school.

If you aspire to become an 'Outstanding' teacher in the future, this is an excellent opportunity to develop essential skills and gain experience working within a supportive English department. It serves as perfect preparation for your future teacher training course.

Position Details:

  • English Graduates required for multiple client secondary schools (2023/2024)
  • 12-month temporary positions starting in the new academic year
  • Opportunity to work in a supportive school committed to your professional development
  • Weekly pay rates starting at £400 per week

The schools are likely to offer you a temporary position for 12 months offering you experience that will support an application to a PGCE placement at a university. You will have termly meetings with senior staff members to review your progress and set targets for improvement.

What Can You Expect from This Role?

  • Working with students on a 1:1 basis to help improve their English skills
  • Involvement in the planning and preparation of English lessons, collaborating closely with teaching staff in the English department
  • Opportunity to lead intervention sessions with small groups of identified students who may struggle to engage in regular English lessons
  • Covering other areas in the school, delivering pre-set lessons in the absence of the class teacher

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
