English Teacher – Alternative Provision

Location: Stotfold, SG5

Contract: Full-time/Permanent

Salary: MPS/UPS

Start date: April 2026

About the role

We are seeking a passionate and resilient English Teacher to join our alternative provision, supporting young people who have faced barriers to success in mainstream education. This is a rewarding role for someone who believes in second chances and the power of strong relationships to transform lives.

You will deliver engaging, meaningful English lessons to small groups of students, many of whom have SEMH needs, gaps in learning, or negative experiences of education. Creativity, patience, and adaptability are key.

What you’ll be doing

  • Planning and delivering English lessons tailored to individual needs

  • Teaching functional skills, GCSE English, or bespoke literacy programmes (depending on cohort)

  • Building positive, trusting relationships with students

  • Supporting learners to develop confidence, communication skills, and self-belief

  • Working closely with pastoral staff, SEN professionals, and families

  • Contributing to a calm, safe, and supportive learning environment

What we’re looking for

  • A qualified teacher (QTS/QTLS) or an experienced English specialist with relevant teaching experience

  • A strong understanding of differentiated and trauma-informed practice

  • Confidence working with students with SEMH, SEND, or challenging behaviour

  • Excellent communication skills and emotional intelligence

  • A flexible, solution-focused approach

Why join us?

  • Small class sizes and high staff-to-student ratios

  • A supportive, close-knit team who genuinely care

  • Opportunities to make a real, visible impact every day

  • Ongoing CPD focused on alternative provision and inclusive practice

  • A role where no two days are the same — and where progress truly matters
