Are you a passionate English Teacher who believes every young person deserves the opportunity to succeed?
We are working with a specialist SEMH school in Portsmouth that is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic English Teacher to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about working with young people who may have experienced challenges within mainstream education.
The successful candidate will be someone who can bring English to life, build strong relationships with pupils and create a safe, engaging environment where students feel valued and motivated to learn.
About the Role
As an SEMH English Teacher, you will:

Plan and deliver engaging English lessons tailored to individual learning needs.

Teach across a range of abilities, adapting lessons to ensure all pupils can make progress.

Build positive and trusting relationships with students.
-
Support pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs.
-
Encourage students to develop confidence in reading, writing and communication.
-
Use creative and engaging approaches to re-engage pupils with education.
-
Manage behaviour positively and consistently.
-
Monitor progress and celebrate individual achievements.

Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, pastoral teams and other professionals.
About You
We are looking for an English Teacher who is:
-
Qualified to teach English, with QTS or equivalent.
-
Passionate about supporting young people who face barriers to learning.
-
Patient, resilient and empathetic.
-
Confident in managing challenging behaviour.
-
Creative and adaptable in their approach to teaching.
-
Able to establish positive relationships with pupils quickly.
-
Committed to helping every student reach their potential.
Experience working within SEMH, SEN, alternative provision or a similar setting would be advantageous, although teachers from mainstream backgrounds with the right attitude and experience will also be considered.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
