Job description
The Role
As a Secondary English Teacher, you’ll create an engaging, inclusive classroom where language is explored, challenged, and celebrated. From Shakespeare to contemporary voices, persuasive writing to creative expression, you’ll help students develop the skills and confidence they need to succeed academically and think critically about the world.
What You’ll Do

Teach engaging English lessons across Key Stages/grade levels (tailored as appropriate)

Bring literature, language, and writing to life through creative, student-centred teaching

Foster a love of reading, discussion, and debate

Support students of all abilities to achieve their potential

Assess progress thoughtfully and provide meaningful feedback

Contribute to curriculum development and enrichment activities

Be a positive, collaborative member of a supportive school community
What We’re Looking For

A qualified English teacher (or trainee/ECT) with strong subject knowledge

A passion for literature, language, and literacy

High expectations for students and yourself

Creative lesson planning and a willingness to try new approaches

Excellent communication skills and a sense of humour (very welcome)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
