Job description

We’re Hiring: Secondary English Teachers in Bristol

Start Date: ASAP
Full-Time / Part-Time | Flexible Supply with Permanent Opportunities | Key Stage 3 & 4

Do you believe English is more than reading and writing? That it’s about communication, critical thinking, creativity, and helping young people find their voice?

We’re looking for enthusiastic and adaptable Secondary English Teachers in Bristol who are open to flexible supply work, with opportunities to transition into long-term or permanent roles for the right candidates.


✅ The Role:

  • Deliver engaging and inclusive English lessons across KS3 and KS4

  • Teach key areas including reading, writing, grammar, and literature

  • Inspire students to develop confidence in communication and critical analysis

  • Adapt lessons to meet the needs of all learners, including SEND and EAL

  • Maintain positive classroom behaviour and a supportive learning environment

  • Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback

  • Work collaboratively with school staff, parents, and support teams

  • Opportunity to experience a range of school settings through supply work

  • Qualified English Teachers (QTS or equivalent)

  • ECTs/NQTs looking to gain experience across different schools

✅ Experience & Requirements:

  • QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or pending QTS

  • Strong subject knowledge in English Language and Literature

  • Experience teaching English at KS3 and/or KS4 (including during training)

  • Confident classroom management and communication skills

  • Ability to adapt quickly to new school environments

  • Commitment to inclusive and high-quality education

  • Enhanced Child-Only DBS (or willingness to apply)
