Position: English Intervention Tutor
Location: Tameside Secondary School
Start Date: January 2025
Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated English Intervention Tutor to work with students in a secondary school in Tameside. Starting in January 2025, this role focuses on helping students improve their literacy skills, supporting those who need extra guidance to succeed in their English studies. It’s an ideal position for an experienced tutor or educator passionate about helping students build confidence in reading, writing, and comprehension.
Responsibilities:
- Targeted English Support: Work with small groups and one-on-one sessions to improve students’ literacy skills, focusing on reading comprehension, vocabulary development, and writing techniques.
- Assessment and Progress Tracking: Regularly assess students' reading levels and progress, providing detailed feedback to teachers and adapting instruction based on individual needs.
- Confidence Building: Foster a positive and supportive learning environment that encourages students to take risks and engage actively in their learning.
- Resource Development: Create engaging, level-appropriate resources and exercises to help students grasp challenging concepts and make measurable progress in their English studies.
- Liaison with Teaching Staff: Work collaboratively with English teachers to align tutoring sessions with classroom objectives, sharing insights on student progress to ensure cohesive support.
Candidate Requirements:
The school seeks a candidate with experience in tutoring or English education, ideally at the secondary level. Strong communication skills, patience, and a genuine commitment to student growth are essential. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
