Job Opportunity: English Graduate Teaching Assistant

Teaching Personnel is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic English Graduate Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted-rated good secondary school in Wilmslow. This full-time position starts ASAP and continues until the end of the academic year, with the potential for a permanent role based on performance. The pay for this role ranges from £419.25 to £500 per week.

Role Overview:

As an English Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational progress and engagement of students within the English department. This position is ideal for recent English graduates who are passionate about education and are considering a career in teaching or educational support.

Key Responsibilities:

Classroom Support:

  • Assist English teachers in delivering engaging and effective lessons, providing individual and group support to students.
  • Help prepare lesson materials and resources, ensuring they are well-organized and readily available.
  • Support classroom management to create a positive and conducive learning environment.

Student Support:

  • Work closely with students to enhance their understanding and appreciation of English literature and language.
  • Provide additional support to students who may be struggling with reading, writing, or comprehension skills.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of individualized learning plans and track students' progress.

Administrative Duties:

  • Help with the assessment and marking of students' work, offering constructive feedback to support their learning.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress, behavior, and attendance.
  • Support the organization and execution of school events, trips, and extracurricular activities related to the English curriculum.

Pastoral Support:

  • Provide one-on-one mentoring and support to students, fostering their confidence and academic success.
  • Work collaboratively with school counselors and other support staff to address students' emotional and social needs.
  • Contribute to creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive school environment where all students feel valued.

Collaboration and Professional Development:

  • Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and school leaders to ensure a comprehensive approach to student support.
  • Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.
  • Actively participate in the school community, promoting the school’s values and ethos.

Requirements:

  • A degree in English or a related field.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • A proactive and flexible approach, with a willingness to adapt to the dynamic needs of the school environment.
  • A genuine passion for supporting students' educational and personal development.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
