Job description

Design & Technology Technician – Durham Secondary School

ASAP start until end of January, Monday to Friday 8:30am to 3:30pm, daily rates dependent on experience.

Teaching Personnel is seeking a Design & Technology Technician to join a Durham secondary school on a short term basis. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with practical skills and a passion for supporting students in creative subjects.

What you'll be doing:

  • Textiles: Operating sewing machines, assisting with cutting materials, and supporting students during practical lessons
  • Cooking: Helping with food preparation, supervising practical sessions, and maintaining cleanliness (including using the washing machine)
  • Resistant Materials: Assisting with woodwork tasks, including cutting wood, organising tools, and ensuring safe use of equipment
  • Maintaining a tidy and safe working environment across all DT areas
  • Providing hands on support to teachers and students during lessons

You need:

  • Ability to confidently use a sewing machine
  • Practical experience in cooking and woodwork
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Reliability, proactive approach and ability to work independently

Contract: Full time, 5 days per week (8:30am to 3:30pm)

Duration: Immediate start

Pay: Competitive daily rates (dependent on experience)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
