DT Teacher – Construction Specialist

Location: Sheffield
Salary: £140–£240 per day (dependent on experience)
Contract: Full-time / Long-term
Start Date: ASAP

Teaching Personnel Sheffield are working in partnership with a secondary school in Sheffield to recruit a Design & Technology Teacher specialising in Construction.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and skilled DT Teacher with strong construction industry experience to inspire students through practical, hands-on learning.

The Role:

  • Deliver engaging DT lessons with a focus on Construction (e.g. woodwork, carpentry, basic building skills, health & safety)

  • Teach across KS3 and KS4 (KS5 experience desirable but not essential)

  • Plan, prepare and assess lessons in line with the national curriculum

  • Maintain a safe and well-managed workshop environment

  • Support students of varying abilities and promote vocational pathways

Essential Requirements (Must Have):

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or PGCEessential

  • Proven experience delivering or working within Construction (industry or teaching background)

  • Strong classroom management skills

  • Up-to-date knowledge of health & safety in a workshop environment

  • Right to work in the UK

Desirable:

  • Experience teaching Construction-based qualifications (BTEC / Vocational)

  • Experience in alternative provision or practical-led settings

  • Passion for vocational education and career pathways
