DT / Food Technician – Full-Time

Start Date: March 2026
Teaching Personnel is working in partnership with a secondary school to appoint a DT / Food Technician to join their Design Technology and Food Technology Department on a full-time basis from February Half Term. This is an excellent opportunity for a well-organised and proactive individual to support high-quality teaching and learning across the DT and Food Technology curriculum.
The successful candidate will provide practical and technical support for DT and Food Technology lessons, ensuring workshops and food rooms are safe, well-prepared and fully resourced for practical activities.
The Role
As a DT / Food Technician, you will:
- Prepare and set up equipment, materials and resources for DT and Food Technology lessons and practical activities
- Support teaching staff during practical sessions when required
- Clear away equipment and ensure workshops and food rooms are left safe and tidy
- Maintain DT and Food Technology workshops and food rooms, preparation rooms and storage areas
- Monitor stock levels, order supplies and keep accurate inventories
- Ensure the safe handling, storage and disposal of materials, tools and food ingredients and equipment
- Follow health & safety regulations and support risk assessment procedures
- Carry out routine equipment checks and basic maintenance
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
- Has a good standard of education, including GCSEs (or equivalent) in Science and Maths
- Is organised, reliable and able to manage their time effectively
- Has strong attention to detail and a commitment to health & safety
- Can work well both independently and as part of a team
- Communicates clearly and professionally with staff and students
Desirable (but not essential):
- Previous experience as a DT / Food Technician or in a laboratory environment
- Experience working within a school or educational setting
- Relevant training or qualifications related to laboratory work or health & safety

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
