Design & Technology Technician – Weymouth

Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting for a skilled and practical Design & Technology Technician to join a secondary school in Weymouth.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a practical background who enjoys working with young people and supporting the delivery of high-quality Design & Technology education.

The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff, helping to prepare resources, maintain equipment and ensure workshops are safe, organised and ready for lessons.

The Role:

• Prepare materials, tools and equipment for DT lessons.
• Support teachers with practical classroom activities.
• Maintain and organise workshops and practical areas.
• Ensure equipment is safe and appropriately stored.
• Assist with stock management and ordering of materials.
• Carry out basic maintenance and repairs where appropriate.
• Support students during practical activities.
• Follow school health and safety procedures.
• Contribute to maintaining a safe and stimulating learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate:

• Practical experience within Design & Technology, engineering, construction or a related field.
• Confident using workshop tools and equipment.
• Strong understanding of health and safety.
• Organised and able to manage resources effectively.
• Patient and approachable when working with students.
• Able to work independently and as part of a wider department.
• Previous school experience is advantageous but not essential.

This role could suit an experienced DT Technician, workshop professional, engineer or practical specialist looking to bring their skills into an educational environment.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
