Design & Technology Technician – Secondary School

Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting on behalf of a welcoming secondary school in Dorchester who are seeking a reliable and hands-on Design & Technology Technician to join their department from September.

This is a part-time, long-term opportunity that could suit an individual with experience in a practical or workshop-based environment who enjoys working with tools, machinery and materials. School experience would be advantageous, but candidates with backgrounds in engineering, construction, manufacturing, carpentry or similar practical industries are encouraged to apply.

The Role

Working alongside the Design & Technology team, you will play an important role in ensuring lessons run smoothly and that the department's workshops and resources are maintained to a high standard.

Responsibilities will include:

• Preparing materials, tools and equipment for practical lessons.

• Supporting teachers and students during practical and workshop activities.

• Checking and maintaining machinery and equipment to ensure it is safe and ready for use.

• Undertaking basic maintenance and repairs when required.

• Monitoring department stock and assisting with the ordering of materials.

• Keeping workshops and work areas clean, safe and well organised.

• Following and promoting appropriate health and safety procedures.

• Providing day-to-day technical assistance to teaching staff.

Previous experience within education would be beneficial, but practical experience gained outside of a school setting will be considered.
