Are you looking to gain experience in secondary schools or take the next step towards a career in teaching? We are currently recruiting confident and reliable Cover Supervisors to work across a range of secondary schools in Tameside and the surrounding areas from September.
This role is ideal for graduates, aspiring teachers, or experienced school staff looking for flexible work within education.
About the Role:
As a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise whole classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff. You will deliver pre-set work, ensure students remain on task, and manage classroom behaviour effectively.
This is not a teaching role, but strong classroom presence and confidence managing groups of students are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise classes across Key Stages 3 and 4 (KS5 opportunities available)
- Deliver pre-prepared lesson materials set by teaching staff
- Ensure pupils remain engaged and complete set work
- Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies
- Respond to any immediate issues or incidents appropriately
- Provide feedback to teaching staff following lessons
- Uphold safeguarding procedures at all times
Who We’re Looking For:
- Experience working with young people (schools, tutoring, coaching, youth work, etc.)
- Strong behaviour management and confidence leading a classroom
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Calm, professional, and adaptable approach
- A genuine interest in education and supporting young people
- Degree-level education is desirable but not essential
- Willingness to travel across Tameside

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
