Are you a recent university graduate considering a career in teaching? Looking to gain valuable classroom experience before completing a PGCE or teacher training programme? Or perhaps you're an experienced teacher who still enjoys working with young people but wants a role with less planning, marking, and administrative responsibility?

Teaching Personnel is seeking a confident and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to join a well-established secondary school in Andover this September. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in education while working within a school that is recognised for its strong pastoral support, high expectations, broad curriculum, and commitment to helping every student succeed.

Why Become a Cover Supervisor?

A Cover Supervisor role is one of the most effective routes into teaching and education. You'll gain first-hand classroom experience, develop behaviour management skills, and build confidence leading groups of students, all without the additional workload associated with a teaching position.

This opportunity is perfect for:

  • Graduates looking to start a career in education
  • Aspiring teachers preparing for PGCE, SCITT, or School Direct programmes
  • Unqualified teachers seeking school-based experience
  • Experienced teachers looking for a better work-life balance
  • Individuals with experience in tutoring, mentoring, coaching, youth work, or childcare
  • Candidates seeking a rewarding term-time role

The Role

As a Cover Supervisor, you will play an important role in ensuring students continue learning effectively during teacher absences.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering pre-planned lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4
  • Managing classroom behaviour in accordance with school policies
  • Maintaining a positive and purposeful learning environment
  • Supporting students to remain engaged and on task
  • Working with students of varying abilities and needs
  • Providing additional support to students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) where appropriate
  • Building strong, professional relationships with students and staff

This role offers excellent exposure to secondary education and is ideal for those looking to progress into teaching.

About the School

This successful Andover secondary school is known for its ethos of high expectations, strong pastoral care, and commitment to developing well-rounded young people. Students are encouraged to be respectful, ambitious, and strive to be their very best. The school offers a broad and balanced curriculum designed to prepare students for future success while promoting personal growth, wellbeing, and lifelong learning.

Ofsted has praised the school for the quality of care provided to students, the exceptional personal development opportunities available, and the culture of respect and inclusivity across the school community.
