Cover Supervisor – Secondary Schools (Plymouth)
Location: Plymouth & surrounding areas
Start Date: September 2025
Hours: Full-time or part-time, Monday–Friday (8:30am – 3:30pm)
Pay: £100 - £110 per day (depending on experience)
About the Role
Teaching Personnel are working closely with secondary schools across Plymouth to recruit enthusiastic and reliable Cover Supervisors for the new academic year.
As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a vital role in maintaining continuity of learning during teacher absences. You will supervise classes, deliver pre-set work, and ensure a positive and productive learning environment. This is a fantastic opportunity for graduates considering a career in teaching, experienced support staff looking for the next step, or anyone with strong behaviour management and communication skills who enjoys working with young people.
Key Responsibilities

Deliver pre-prepared lessons to classes across KS3 and KS4 in a range of subjects

Manage classroom behaviour effectively, ensuring a calm and focused environment

Support students in completing their work, answering questions where appropriate

Follow school policies on safeguarding, behaviour, and attendance

Report back to teachers on progress and behaviour of pupils

Step into different subject areas and adapt to different school environments with confidence
What We’re Looking For

Strong communication and classroom management skills

Ability to engage and motivate young people

Confidence in leading groups of students, even outside of your subject expertise

Flexibility to work across different schools and year groups
-
Previous experience in education, youth work, or coaching desirable but not essential

Degree-level qualification or relevant experience (ideal but not required)
