Job description

Teaching Personnel are seeking a confident and adaptable Cover Supervisor to join a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in the Waterlooville area. This full-time role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to gain valuable classroom experience or explore a potential career in teaching.

In this role, you will supervise classes of students aged 11–16 in the absence of the class teacher, ensuring that pupils remain engaged with pre-prepared lesson materials and that lessons run smoothly across a variety of subjects. The position may also involve providing support to students with special educational needs (SEN), helping them access the curriculum and participate fully in class activities. You will be responsible for maintaining a calm and focused learning environment, managing behaviour in line with school policies, keeping students on task, and providing feedback to teaching staff regarding pupil engagement, progress, and conduct.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with secondary-aged students, with previous exposure to supporting SEN pupils considered advantageous. Confidence in managing classroom dynamics, the ability to adapt to different situations, and strong communication skills are essential. A genuine enthusiasm for education, patience, and a commitment to supporting young people’s learning and development are highly valued.

This position offers a full-time contract with an immediate start, competitive daily pay rates between £95 and £120, and the opportunity to work within a supportive school environment. Ongoing guidance and professional development will be provided by Teaching Personnel’s experienced recruitment team. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
