Cover Supervisor
Job description
Teaching Personnel are seeking confident and reliable Cover Supervisors to support a range of secondary schools across Rochdale from September 2026. As a senior recruitment consultant working closely with local schools, I am currently supporting increased demand for cover staff, making this an excellent opportunity for those looking to gain experience within education or secure consistent work in a school environment.
We are working with a variety of secondary schools across Rochdale, including academies and local authority settings, offering flexible day-to-day supply work, short-term bookings and longer-term placements. These roles are ideal for graduates, aspiring teachers, or experienced school support staff looking to develop their classroom presence and progression opportunities within secondary education.
As a Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising pre-set lessons in the absence of the class teacher, ensuring that pupils remain on task and that behaviour expectations are met. You will play an important role in maintaining continuity of learning and supporting a positive classroom environment across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
The role includes:
- Delivering pre-planned lessons across a range of subjects
- Managing classroom behaviour in line with school policies
- Ensuring pupils remain engaged and complete set work
- Providing support and guidance to students where required
- Reporting back to teaching staff on pupil progress and behaviour
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience working with young people or in a school setting
- Strong communication and behaviour management skills
- Confidence leading a classroom independently
- A flexible, proactive and professional approach
- An enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to apply
