Job description

Teaching Personnel are seeking a confident and adaptable Cover Supervisor to join a well-regarded secondary school in Portsmouth. This full-time position presents an excellent opportunity for individuals who are keen to gain valuable classroom experience or are considering a future career in teaching.

In this role, you will be responsible for supervising classes of students aged 11 to 16 in the absence of the regular teacher, ensuring lessons run smoothly and that pupils remain engaged with the pre-prepared learning materials provided. You will help maintain a positive and productive learning environment across a range of subjects and year groups, while also providing occasional support to students with special educational needs.

To be successful in this role, you should be confident in managing a classroom, flexible in your approach, and able to respond effectively to different situations as they arise. Experience working with secondary-aged pupils, including those with additional needs, would be an advantage, though not essential. Strong communication skills, enthusiasm for supporting young people, and the ability to build positive relationships with students are all key qualities for this position.

This is a full-time post with an immediate start, offering competitive daily rates between £95 and £140 depending on experience. You will be joining a supportive school environment that values teamwork, professional development, and the contribution of all staff. In addition, you will receive ongoing guidance and support from Teaching Personnel’s experienced recruitment team.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
