Cover Supervisor

A welcoming and well-established mainstream secondary school in Poole is currently seeking a confident and reliable Cover Supervisor to join their team from September 2025. This is a full-time, term-time only position and would suit someone with a strong presence, excellent classroom management skills, and a genuine interest in supporting young people’s education.

The Role:

• Delivering pre-set lesson plans to whole classes across a range of subjects in the absence of the class teacher.

• Managing classroom behaviour and maintaining a focused learning environment.

• Responding to student questions and supporting learning as required (no planning or marking involved).

• Ensuring students remain on task and follow the school’s behaviour and safeguarding policies.

• Liaising with teaching staff and senior leadership regarding student progress and behaviour when necessary.

• Providing additional supervision during break/lunchtime duties where needed.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

• Have experience working with secondary-aged students (either in education, coaching, youth work or similar).

• Be confident managing classroom behaviour in a calm, respectful and consistent way.

• Be flexible, adaptable, and able to cover lessons across a range of subjects.

• Have strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Be professional, punctual, and proactive in supporting students and staff.
