Cover Supervisor
Job description
We are recruiting Cover Supervisors to work across a range of secondary schools in Oldham, with ASAP starts available. This role is ideal for graduates, experienced school support staff, or anyone confident working with young people and looking to gain classroom experience. Schools across Oldham, Chadderton, Failsworth, Royton and Shaw are seeking reliable, adaptable individuals who can step into the classroom and support learning when teachers are absent.
As a Cover Supervisor, you will be supervising classes, ensuring pupils stay on task with the work that has already been set. Each day offers variety, giving you the chance to work across different subjects and year groups while building valuable experience within secondary school settings.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering pre-prepared lessons to KS3 and KS4 classes
- Managing behaviour and maintaining a positive classroom environment
- Supporting students to stay focused and complete the work set
- Communicating effectively with staff across the school
- Covering a wide range of subjects depending on the school’s needs
We are looking for confident, proactive people who can build rapport quickly with students and staff. This role suits:
- Graduates considering a future in teaching
- Existing Cover Supervisors or Teaching Assistants seeking a new challenge
- Individuals with backgrounds in youth work, mentoring, tutoring, or coaching
- People who can remain calm, consistent, and positive in busy school environments

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
