Job description

Teaching Personnel is urgently seeking a confident, adaptable, and reliable Day-to-Day Cover Supervisor for immediate start roles. This position requires you to be available on stand-by each morning or on call to support nearby Secondary Schools at short notice. It is an excellent opportunity for anyone looking to work in Education while maintaining flexibility in their schedule.

As a Cover Supervisor, you will step in during teacher absences, deliver pre-prepared lessons, support students with their learning, and maintain a calm, productive classroom environment. This role is perfect for individuals wanting to gain immediate experience within a school setting and develop strong classroom management skills.

This position covers the North Manchester, Oldham, and Rochdale areas. Applicants must live locally or be able to commute reliably.

Responsibilities:

  • Delivering and supervising pre-prepared lessons across a range of subjects in the teacher’s absence.
  • Managing classroom behaviour and ensuring a safe, focused learning environment.
  • Supporting students with their work and addressing any questions.
  • Liaising with teaching staff to ensure smooth and consistent lesson delivery.
  • Assisting with general administrative tasks and wider school activities where needed.
  • Providing feedback to school staff on lesson delivery and student engagement.
  • Maintaining strong communication with both placement schools and Teaching Personnel.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A degree in any subject.
  • Previous experience working with young people—ideally in an educational setting—is desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Confidence managing a classroom and maintaining discipline.
  • Flexibility, reliability, and a proactive approach.
  • A genuine passion for education and supporting students.
