Job description

We are seeking a confident and motivated Cover Supervisor to join a welcoming and high-achieving secondary school in Harrow. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young people and is keen to play a key role in maintaining continuity of learning across the school.

As a Cover Supervisor, you will deliver pre-prepared lessons to classes in the absence of the regular teacher, ensuring students remain focused, engaged, and supported throughout. You will uphold the school’s behaviour and safeguarding standards while fostering a positive, respectful learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise whole classes during teacher absences, ensuring learning continues effectively.

  • Manage classroom behaviour and encourage active participation.

  • Follow lesson plans and maintain accurate records of student work and progress.

  • Provide feedback to teaching staff and support the wider school team where needed.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience working with young people, ideally within a school environment.

  • Demonstrate strong communication and organisational skills.

  • Be confident, calm under pressure, and able to motivate students.

  • Be flexible, reliable, and professional at all times.

  • Hold a degree or equivalent qualification (desirable but not essential).

This position is ideal for graduates considering a future in teaching or for those looking to gain valuable classroom experience in a supportive and well-resourced school.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
