Cover Supervisor – Secondary Schools | Chesterfield

Location: Chesterfield
Office Location: Teaching Personnel Sheffield
Pay: £100–£120 per day (dependent on experience)
Start Date: Immediate / Ongoing
Contract: Flexible day-to-day and long-term opportunities

Teaching Personnel Sheffield is currently recruiting Cover Supervisors to work across a range of secondary schools in Chesterfield and the surrounding areas.

Whether you are an experienced Cover Supervisor, a graduate considering a career in teaching, or someone with experience working with young people, this is a fantastic opportunity to gain experience in schools while enjoying flexible work and competitive rates of pay.

The Role

As a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise classes during teacher absence, ensuring students remain engaged with the work set by teaching staff and follow school expectations.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering pre-set lesson materials
  • Supervising classes across a variety of subjects
  • Managing classroom behaviour effectively
  • Supporting students to stay focused and engaged
  • Maintaining a positive learning environment
  • Providing feedback to teaching staff following lessons

No lesson planning or marking is required.

Who We're Looking For

We welcome applications from candidates who:

  • Have previous experience working as a Cover Supervisor
  • Hold a UK-recognised degree and are interested in a career in education
  • Have experience working with young people through coaching, tutoring, mentoring, youth work, or similar roles
  • Possess strong communication and behaviour management skills
  • Are reliable, adaptable, and professional

The ability to build positive relationships with students and maintain high expectations is essential.
