Cover Supervisor
Job description
A well-regarded mainstream secondary school in the heart of Bournemouth is seeking a confident and adaptable Cover Supervisor to join their team from September 2025 on a full-time basis.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to gain valuable classroom experience within a supportive and inclusive school environment. The successful candidate will step into a pivotal role, helping to maintain continuity of learning during teacher absences by delivering pre-prepared lessons and managing classroom behaviour in line with the school’s policies.
The school prides itself on fostering a welcoming and collaborative ethos, where students are encouraged to achieve their full potential and staff are valued for their contributions. The successful candidate will be joining a dedicated team committed to high standards of teaching and learning.
Key Responsibilities:

Supervising classes across a range of subjects during short-term teacher absence

Delivering set work to students and ensuring learning continues effectively

Managing student behaviour in line with the school’s expectations

Reporting back on student progress and classroom activity to teaching staff

Supporting pupils to remain engaged and focused throughout lessons
The School Is Looking For:

A confident and approachable individual with strong communication skills

Someone who is calm under pressure and able to manage classroom behaviour effectively

Prior experience working with secondary-aged students is desirable but not essential

A team player with a flexible and proactive attitude
This position would suit a graduate considering a career in teaching, a Teaching Assistant looking to step up, or someone with experience in youth work or coaching who enjoys working with young people.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
