A well-regarded mainstream secondary school in Blandford is seeking a confident and reliable Cover Supervisor to join their team from April 2026.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to gain hands-on classroom experience in a secondary school setting, particularly those considering a future career in teaching or education.
The Role
As a Cover Supervisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for supervising whole classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff, ensuring students remain on task and engaged with pre-set work. The role does not require lesson planning or marking, but strong classroom presence and behaviour management are essential.
Key responsibilities include:

Supervising classes across KS3 and KS4 in the absence of the class teacher

Delivering pre-prepared lesson materials

Managing classroom behaviour in line with school policies

Supporting students to remain focused and complete work set

Liaising with teaching and pastoral staff as required
The Ideal Candidate
The school is looking for someone who:

Has experience working with young people (education experience desirable but not essential)

Is confident managing classroom behaviour

Has strong communication and organisational skills

Is adaptable, professional, and resilient

Holds a degree or relevant education-based experience (desirable)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
