Cover Supervisor

Contract: Full-time (term-time only)

A well-regarded mainstream secondary school in Blandford is seeking a confident and reliable Cover Supervisor to join their team from April 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to gain hands-on classroom experience in a secondary school setting, particularly those considering a future career in teaching or education.

The Role

As a Cover Supervisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for supervising whole classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff, ensuring students remain on task and engaged with pre-set work. The role does not require lesson planning or marking, but strong classroom presence and behaviour management are essential.

Key responsibilities include:

• Supervising classes across KS3 and KS4 in the absence of the class teacher

• Delivering pre-prepared lesson materials

• Managing classroom behaviour in line with school policies

• Supporting students to remain focused and complete work set

• Liaising with teaching and pastoral staff as required

The Ideal Candidate

The school is looking for someone who:

• Has experience working with young people (education experience desirable but not essential)

• Is confident managing classroom behaviour

• Has strong communication and organisational skills

• Is adaptable, professional, and resilient

• Holds a degree or relevant education-based experience (desirable)
