Cover Supervisor (SEMH) – Secondary School
Blackburn, Lancashire
Start Date: September 2026

Contract: Temporary to Permanent Opportunity
Salary: Competitive (dependent on experience)

Are you passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Do you have the resilience, adaptability and confidence to thrive in a dynamic secondary school environment?

We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Cover Supervisor to work within an SEMH unit based in a mainstream secondary school in Blackburn. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real impact on students who may require additional support to access education successfully.

The Role

As a Cover Supervisor, you will:

  • Deliver pre-set lessons across the SEMH provision in the absence of teaching staff
  • Manage classroom behaviour effectively, using positive and consistent strategies
  • Support students with SEMH needs to stay engaged and on task
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students and staff
  • Work closely with teaching staff, SENCOs and pastoral teams
  • Uphold safeguarding and behaviour policies at all times

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with young people, ideally within SEMH, SEN or alternative provisions
  • Is calm, resilient and confident managing challenging behaviour
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Is adaptable and able to think on their feet

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
